Staff
Shirley A. Montgomery, CPA
Shirley’s association with Perry L. Demma goes back to 1978; she began working for the firm on a permanent part-time basis in 2012. While she prepares many individual returns, a major focus of her work within the firm is on estates and trusts, partnerships, and corporations.
Education and Experience: Shirley received her BS in Business Education (with high distinction) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1971. She received her MA in Education (with a minor in Accounting) in 1977—also from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She started her career as a business teacher at two different Nebraska high schools (with a year as a legal secretary sandwiched between them). After passing the CPA exam in 1978, she worked full-time for Miller and Moore CPAs for four years, where she first met and worked with Perry. Then, in 1982 she returned to the classroom—but maintained her CPA Permit to Practice with continuing education classes and by actively servicing her own tax clientele and by doing independent contractor work for Perry. In 2012, she left the classroom and went back to accounting as her main work focus.
Professional and Community Service: Shirley is currently a member of AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants), and NSCPA (Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants).
